TIME AND DAY: 2:10 PM - SATURDAY
ROOM: ROOM A

The similarities in writing drama and documentaries are closer than one may think when it comes to characters, structure and emotional impact. But the processes are very different. Writing documentaries is an evolutionary process: write, shoot, edit, rewrite, shoot… and so on and so forth.

And with today’s advanced technology and its accessibility, the storyteller has the ability to pick up a camera - be it a Canon 5D or an iPhone – and go shoot a documentary. It can be as easy as that!

In this session, Chris Atkins (TAKING LIBERTIES and STARSUCKERS) and James Collie (BEYOND BIBA) will share invaluable insights, tips and techniques born out of their own documentary film making experiences. Both began life in drama. Both migrated to documentary and to success.
